Noreen Hansbrough is a savvy businesswoman who was a district manager for a chain of Dollar Stores for 28 years. When the stores were sold in 2006, Noreen evaluated the options for her future, and the one thing that stood out was she wanted to work for herself. She attended a franchisee seminar, where she was introduced to EDIBLE ARRANGEMENTS®.(continued below)

”Edible Arrangements  was new and exciting to me,” says Noreen. “After the seminar, I visited a store in my area and I was in awe! So, I went on the website and filled out a franchisee application, and then attended Discovery Day at corporate headquarters to learn more—the rest is history!”

Noreen opened her first EDIBLE ARRANGEMENTS® store in Homewood, Illinois, in July, 2007. She says her retail experience helped her manage the business end of the franchise, and her experience working through holidays contributed to the store’s smooth operation during busy times of the year.

Noreen’s recipe for success includes placing a strong emphasis on hiring and training good people.

“I love to work with my staff and be there alongside them,” Noreen says. “It’s very important for me to have the right employees in place, with the right person for the right position—I play on everyone’s strengths.”

Noreen had such a great experience with her first store that she decided to expand her enterprise, opening her second store in Bourbonnais, Illinois in 2010. She says the EA corporate office played a big part in making that possible. In fact, Noreen says that throughout her years as an EA franchisee, the support she has received from the corporate office has been excellent:

“Whenever I have a question and I call, it always gets answered!”

Ever since she became a part of the EA family, Noreen has never missed a corporate convention. She especially enjoys the camaraderie she feels there.

“I feel it’s so important to attend the conventions, because I get to talk with other franchisees and exchange ideas with them,” Noreen says. “I’ve kept in contact with every franchisee I’ve ever met!”

Today, Noreen is WOWed about how far the EDIBLE ARRANGEMENTS® brand has come.

“When we first opened, I had to explain to people what Edible Arrangements  was. Today, it’s a household name!”
